What Is Children’s Yoga ?

What a Class Looks Like:

In a typical children’s yoga class, you might see:

A jungle safari theme where yoga poses become lions, elephants, and snakes

Kids using scarves, bubbles, or dancing to explore breath, rhythm, and movement

A storybook guiding them through a yoga flow full of imagination

Calming sensory elements like lights, music, or cozy props to help settle the body and mind

Each class is carefully designed to match the developmental needs of the age group—whether it’s toddlers learning through songs and simple movements, or older kids practicing balance, focus, and relaxation skills.

Children’s yoga is a playful and nurturing practice that blends traditional yoga principles with creativity, movement, and imagination—designed specifically for kids.

Unlike adult yoga, which often focuses on alignment or stillness, children’s yoga uses stories, songs, games, and themed adventures to make yoga engaging and age-appropriate. The goal isn’t to “master” poses, but to help children build body awareness, emotional resilience, and self-confidence in a joyful, supportive environment.

Why It Matters:

Children’s yoga supports growth in many areas:

  • Physically: Builds strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility

  • Emotionally: Teaches kids how to manage big feelings and reduce stress

  • Socially: Encourages connection, cooperation, and kindness

  • Mentally: Enhances concentration, focus, and self-regulation skills

Most importantly, children’s yoga creates a space where kids feel safe, seen, and celebrated—just as they are.

Our Mission

At The GreenHouse Children’s Yoga, our mission is to create a nurturing space where children can grow through movement, mindfulness, and play. We believe that introducing yoga early in life gives children lifelong tools to support their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Each class is thoughtfully designed to meet children exactly where they are—through age-appropriate movement, breathwork, stories, music, and imaginative exploration.

Just like a greenhouse helps plants grow strong and healthy, we provide a safe, supportive environment where every child can build confidence, self-awareness, and resilience from the inside out. Our goal is to make yoga accessible, inclusive, and joyful for all families and communities.

Owner & Teacher

Meet Selena Natale, a certified yoga instructor (RYT 200, RCYT 95) with training from South Boston Yoga and a deep-rooted passion for children’s wellness. Originally from Quincy, MA, Selena was inspired by her mother, who owned an all-women’s gym—planting the seed for a lifelong dedication to movement, mindfulness, and community.

Her work as both a nanny and yoga teacher revealed the profound impact yoga can have on children’s mental, emotional, and physical development. This realization led her to create a dedicated program that fosters creativity, confidence, and calm through playful, intentional movement.

Selena founded The GreenHouse Children’s Yoga Studio, inspired by the nurturing nature of a greenhouse—a place where, with care and attention, beautiful growth happens. Her classes, designed for children, provide a safe and joyful space for little ones to stretch, breathe, and blossom from the inside out.

Today, Selena is proud to share The GreenHouse with young minds and their families, helping the next generation grow with resilience, self-awareness, and joy.
